About

Kamalini Natesan is a writer, poet and author of the new novel Naked Beneath the Midnight Sun. She is a trained classical singer and also teaches French when not writing. With over a decade of writing essays, travelogues and book reviews for magazines such as Life Positive, Parenting, New Woman and other publications, her journey as a writer continues unabated.

Her essays and short stories have been part of anthologies, namely A Life in Transit, and Twilight’s Children, Chronicles of Uncommon Lives. Her strength and focus have been relationships and their intricacies, and she enjoys writing travel anecdotes culled from her observations.

Kamalini loves reading different genres and it is only natural that she would review books with the same passion she imbues her stories with. Her book reviews are well-liked.

Naked Beneath the Midnight Sun (Olympia, UK) is her debut novel. Kamalini is now writing her second novel and continues to write short stories, poems and travelogues. She enjoys blogging, and giving a voice to ideas that come at her, through an active life now being led in Thailand.

Naked Beneath The Midnight Sun

“Natesan does have the ability to tell a story and the reader sees it in the uncluttered stokes of her pen, her deft delineation of characters, the avoiding of needless verbosity, and beautiful and detailed descriptions of nature, which pull the reader right on to the scene where the story is unfolds.”

-Dr. Santosh Bakaya

This book is not a shot of espresso, it is a glass of wine that must be sniffed, sipped and rolled before letting it slide down.

-Anuradha

The descriptions were vivid and so real that it felt almost like living through Natesan’s words (that’s what a good book does).

Men Without Women ~ Haruki Murakami

Men Without Women ~ Haruki Murakami

Murakami’s construct leaves all of his stories open to a myriad interpretations, and that’s the beauty of his narrative.
He manages to etch distinct characters in each of his tales with remarkable dexterity and the Murakami mind observes quietly, much like the Lamprey, who live off life itself. I was agog by the sheer brilliance of an imagination that defies coherence yet draws you in, makes you believe.

The Firebird ~ Saikat Majumdar

The Firebird ~ Saikat Majumdar

Majumdar writes with great sensitivity- delving deep into the young lad’s mind, drawing from both the light and the dark that exist in tandem within. Ori senses the resentment his mother’s stage life provokes in others around him, the family and neighbours.

Script & ScreenWriting Workshop (HWR) May 2023

A script and screenwriting workshop in a haven called Himalayan Writer’s Retreat nestled in the mountains at Satkhol (3 hours from the plains at Kathgodam) en route via Bhimtal. It was an enriching experience with participants from all over India and abroad. Anu Singh Choudhary who has co-scripted many screenplays such as Aryaa, mentored us with great patience and panache. The four-day workshop was a great learning experience. And in such an idyllic environment too.
